TEKNETOOLBOX - Design

The second residency in Greece, in April 2024, came along with important changes in the legal status and representation of Duncan Dance Research Center. Both the workshop and the presentation resulted in opportunities to gather people and memories around this building and its history. A letter, a dance and song was shared, followed by planting two banana trees in Duncan’s Garden. The invitation was referring to the building:

“Dear place, I have observed you for quite a while now. I know you hold a mystery that we have to unravel. I know that you have been through some challenges lately, that things are not how they used to be. Some changes appeared that made you look and feel differently. Nevertheless, a horizon is drawn yet to be fulfilled. Ofrenda is a gathering to make an offering to this place. it invites you to pay tribute to a place in transition. To build a collective memory made of stories, dances, gestures, words, and any other material or immaterial thing that made it how it is today. And through this act to listen together to the possibilities that are drawn at the horizon.”

Taking advantage of PLANT’s Public Moment in Mieres, Spain, in May 2024, a second presentation took place that wished to throw a thread between the building of the Duncans’ in Athens and the old warehouse situated in Espai nyamnyam. The presentation on the history of that building invited everyone to bring their own temple into mind, while also placing together the latest experience in Athens by joining its content in a new extended letter leading to a group dance outside the warehouse.
