Espacios Revelados, Guadalajara Case

Espacios Revelados program revitalizes and reimagines abandoned buildings and public spaces in South American cities through artistic interventions, providing new perspectives on urban neighbourhoods in the age of globalization. In Guadalajara, Mexico, the project ran from Aug 2019 to Mar 2020 and brought together creators, academics, and organizations interested in the city’s modern architecture. Aristeo and Cia La Palmer joined us to share their experiences and lessons learned from the project.

Aristeo Mora 

Aristeo Mora is a stage director, with a degree from the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid and a Master's Degree in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture from the University of Alcalá, the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum and ARTEA (Spain). He was born in 1988 in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. He works in the Optional Company, a research group dedicated to the creation of pieces and experimental contexts for the performing arts, together with Cecilia Guelfi (Argentina), Lara Ortiz and Alejandro Mendicuti (Spain), with whom he has developed and premiered different pieces in Mexico, Spain and Argentina since 2010.

Pilar Mackenna and Italo Gallardo – Cia Laura Palmer

La Laura Palmer is a multidisciplinary group composed of Italo Gallardo, Pilar Ronderos, Jorge Arecheta, Sebastian Pereira and Laurene Lemaitre. The company originates in 2008 in order to look for new ways of telling stories with a focus on research on the construction of scenic devices that are able to put the viewer in front of a story, developing an experience that installs more than certainties. They intend to question the place of representation and regain the notion of community that gave the theatre a privileged place to think and reflect.

With a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Finis Terrae, Santiago, and a Master’s Degree in Plastic Arts and Sculpture from the University of Porto, Pilar Mackenna (1985, Santiago, Chile) is co-director of the Cia La Palmer Company.

Ariadna Rodriguez – Espai nyamnyam

Nyamnyam is a space and collective created in 2012 by artists Iñaki Alvarez and Ariadna Rodríguez. Joining their formations and deformations in various disciplines, their work aims to promote creation, diffraction, knowledge exchange and culture through sharing strategies. They use artistic dynamics and tools to propose interventions in each local context in which they work.
